যাইতাম যখন আমার বন্ধুর ছোট্ট কুঁড়েঘরে,
বসতে দিত বেতের পিঁড়ায় কত আদর করে।
খোঁপায় দিত বেলীর মালা, হাতে রেশমী চুরি,
গলায় পরতো বকুল মালা, পরনে নীল শাড়ী।
ভ্রমর-কালো চোখে আঁকত কাজল-কালো রেখা,
আলতা-রাঙা পায়ে সদা নূপুর যেত দেখা।
শাপলা ফোটা পুকুর জলে স্নান করিত যখন,
আমার কথা শুধুই না-কি তাহার হইতো স্মরণ।
যা চাহিত তা-ই দিতাম, সবাই মিলে খেতাম,
খাওয়ার পরে সবাই মিলে ডিঙ্গায় ঘুরিতাম।
তুমি বন্ধু প্রাণের স্বজন বুঝাই কেমন করে,
সারাজীবন রাখবে কী গো তুমার অন্তরে?
বন্ধু তুমি প্রাণের স্পন্দন কেন চিনব না?
বাল্যবন্ধু যারা আমার তাদের ভুলব না।
সময় যদি থাকত আমার লিখতাম কবিতা,
বন্ধু যে মোর সেই যুবতী শুচি-সবিতা।

Today, I went to the beach with my kids. I found a sea shell and gave it to my

screamed. There was a hermit crab inside and it pinched her ear.
